Agartala, Mar 12: The Tripura government has sanctioned financial assistance worth Rs 6.23 crore for students under the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana (MYYY) for the academic session 2024–25, aiming to expand digital access among college students in the state.
The fund was formally released by IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy during a programme held at the state secretariat in Agartala on Wednesday, in the presence of Secretary Kiran Gitte and Director Jeya Raghul Geshan.
Senior officials from the Information Technology department, nodal officers from various colleges, and student representatives were present at the event.
Officials said the initiative is part of the state government’s broader effort, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, to strengthen digital learning infrastructure and support students in accessing online educational resources.
Under the scheme, 12,478 final-year students enrolled in government-run colleges and higher education institutions across Tripura will receive Rs 5,000 each as financial assistance to purchase smartphones.
The support is intended to help students stay connected with digital platforms, online classes, and academic resources.
The programme is being implemented by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, which manages the application and verification process.
For the current academic year, the scheme was inaugurated by the Chief Minister on October 28, 2025, following which applications were accepted between November 1 and December 20.
After scrutiny, applications from 40 government colleges, institutes, and universities were found eligible for the benefits.
Officials confirmed that the financial assistance will be credited directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and timely delivery of funds.
