Tripura Govt hikes honorarium of SPOs, introduces awards for meritorious Divyang students

Agartala, Sept 01: The Tripura cabinet on Thursday took three important decisions- hike in honorarium of Special Police Officers (SPOs), filling up of six posts of Assistant Professors and one-time award for meritorious Divyang students.
Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury said, the council of ministers approved a proposal for increasing the monthly honorarium of SPOs to Rs. 7079; they are receiving Rs. 6156 at present with effect from the next month.
He said, apart from the increase in honorarium of total 3911 SPOs under the Home department, the drivers would also get Rs. 9000 per month. He said, the drivers have to work overtime and considering it, the cabinet fixed their honorarium at Rs. 9000.
The ICA minister said, the cabinet also approved Chief Minister’s Meritorious Awards for the students with benchmark disabilities.
Under this scheme of the Social Welfare and Social Education department, the top 5 students Divyang students in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations each would get one-time award of Rs. 24000 and Rs. 54000 respectively.
As decided by the council of ministers, six posts of Assistant Professors (Technical- TIT Narsingarh) under the Higher Education department would soon be filled up through Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), Chowdhury told the media.
