
As recommended by a team of AIIMS, New Delhi, Tripura government is contemplating a plan to open dedicated hospital management unit, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Friday.
The Chief Minister said, Prof. (Dr.) M. Srinivas, who led the AIIMS team during a visit to Tripura recently, has suggested the Hospital Administration and Management department for micro management of hospital functions.
He also announced that a MoU would be signed for proper training of the state's nursing staff and senior resident doctors.
Addressing an event at a private hospital in Agartala, Dr. Saha said, the government has made unprecedented progress in health Infrastructure and services over the last seven years.
He also said, initiatives have been taken to strengthen the infrastructure of district and sub-division hospitals to provide access to health services for everyone.
The Chief Minister further announced that the state government would sign a MoU with the Mohan Foundation for liver transplant in Agartala in the near future.
Dr. Saha, who holds the Health portfolio, said this while inaugurating the new Cancer Care Facility at ILS Hospital. The new facility has been introduced in collaboration with the International Oncology Care Institute (IOCI). He appreciated the hospital for its improved services as well as employment generation.
Speaking about the government cancer hospital, he said, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre was inaugurated in Tripura on September 16, 2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated Rs 42 crore for the infrastructure development of the cancer hospital. State-of-the-art medical equipment including MRI and CT scan were installed there.
"The success rate of the cancer hospital so far is 27%. Our goal is to make it 50%,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the increased bed strength in the GBP Hospital. He said, the number of beds at GBP Hospital has been increased from 727 to 1,413 and the government is working on further plans to increase the number by adding more 100 beds.
Dr. Om Tantia, Founder and Managing Director of ILS Hospital, Dr. Madhugar, eminent specialist, IOCI Executive Director Pramod Sharma, ILS CEO Kishore Ambuli, and other eminent doctors were present at the event.
