Tripura Govt plans to introduce MSP for forest products to ensure income for Janajati people: CM

Agartala, Aug 27: Tripura government is contemplating a plan to introduce Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various forest products apart from brooms with a target to generate income scopes to the Janajati people.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this at a programme in Hezamara of West Tripura district on Thursday. Later, he also posted the same on his official Facebook handle.

Deb said the state government already initiated several projects to ensure socio-economic and cultural development as well as Education, Healthcare and Drinking Water for the Indigenous section. Besides, an initiative was already taken so that the patta holders get assistance in Agriculture and other fields.

The Chief Minister said that his government’s top priority was to generate income scopes to the Janajati people by utilising the forest resources.

Deb was speaking at a programme in Hezamara where he inaugurated the 24x7 service of Health and Wellness Centre of the Primary Health Centre.

The Chief Minister also highlighted many of the initiatives taken by his government for the welfare of Indigenous people.

“Agartala airport has been renamed after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, the Tribal Welfare department has been renamed as Janajati Welfare department and Barmura has been renamed as Hatai Kotor,” the Chief Minister said.

He claimed that the people were now getting benefits of various schemes of the state and central governments without wasting time in party office and local elected representatives rather the public representatives and the officers were now reaching out to the last man of the society with the benefits of various schemes.

According to a government press release, the 10-bed Primary Health Centre functioning under Hezamara block covers the people of six sub health centres and six ADC villages.

The other dignitaries who attended the inaugural programme included MLA Brishaketu Debbarma, MDC Rabindra Debbarma, District Magistrate, West Tripura- Debapriya Bardhan and Director of Family Welfare Dr. Radha Debbarma.

In the programme, the Chief Minister felicitated a local woman- Sampatti Debbarma who donated land for the Hezamara PHC.
