Tripura Govt proposes trains from Agartala to Mumbai, J&K: Pranajit

Agartala, Aug 05: Tripura government has placed proposals to the Ministry of Railways for introducing train services from Agartala to Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir, Transport minister pranajit Singha Roy said on Friday.

After flagging-off Agartala- Deoghar special train at Agartala railway station, the Transport minister said the state government also proposed an express train between Agartala and Guwahati. He said, the Tripura government is also keen for Agartala-Puri train service.
 
According to Singha Roy, nine express trains along with DEMU/ local trains are already in service from Agartala.
 
To meet the demand of over 14 lakh the Satsangis in Tripura, the Transport department had sent a letter to the Minister of Railways to restore the Agartala- Deoghar train service that was disrupted for a long period following Covid pandemic and then natural disaster. Besides, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha also took up the matter with the Centre and arranged this special train.
 
Over 2200 passengers on board, the Agartala- Deoghar special train departed from Agartala railway station at 7 pm on Friday while another train would leave for Deoghar from Agartala at 3 pm on Saturday, the Transport minister said.
