Tripura Govt to give social pension to 30000 new beneficiaries

Agartala, Sept 30: In a major decision, the Tripura cabinet led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has approved a new scheme "Chief Minister Social Assistance Scheme" for providing social pension to more 30,000 beneficiaries.
As many as 30,000 new beneficiaries have been covered under this scheme; they would now get a monthly allowance of Rs. 2000, Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury said on Friday.
According to the ICA minister, an additional fund of Rs. 6 crore would be required per month for implementing the decision.
Under the Social Welfare and Social Education department, as many as 3,18,415 beneficiaries are receiving social allowances at present.
Meanwhile, the Tripura government recently fulfilled its promise made in the Vision Document by increasing the social pension from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000.
