Agartala, Nov 09: Responding to a recent fuel shortage due to a supply disruption caused by a goods train derailment on the Badarpur-Lumding route, the Tripura government has implemented a temporary fuel rationing system with effect from Sunday.
The Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, explained in a video announcement that this measure was necessary due to reduced petrol stocks at the Dharmanagar Indian Oil Corporation depot and limited availability at other petrol pumps throughout the state.
Chowdhury urged residents to cooperate with the rationing system to ensure fair distribution and to support essential services during this period.
He also noted that the Northeast Frontier Railway has already begun repair work on the affected rail tracks, with restoration efforts progressing rapidly.
The temporary fuel rationing system specifies a daily petrol limit per vehicle: Rs. 200 for two-wheelers, Rs. 400 for three-wheelers, and Rs. 1,000 for four-wheelers. This initiative aims to manage the current shortage until the supply chain returns to normal.
