Tripura itself represents the spirit of unity in diversity: Governor

Agartala, Oct 02: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Friday inaugurated the Bir Bikram Ekta Camp and Special National Integration Camp at the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium of Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), Narsingarh, in the presence of NCC officials and cadets from across the country.

The camp has been organised by the 13 Tripura Battalion NCC and is witnessing the participation of NCC cadets representing 17 NCC Directorates from different parts of the country. The programme aims to promote national integration, unity, discipline, cultural exchange and a spirit of service among the youth.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor described Tripura as a jewel of the North East and highlighted the state’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and tradition of communal harmony.

“Tripura is a land of breathtaking natural beauty, with its rolling hills, lush green forests and serene lakes. It is also a land of rich cultural heritage, where the vibrant traditions of the indigenous communities blend beautifully with the warmth of Bengali culture,” he said.

The Governor said the people of Tripura are known for their hospitality, resilience and deep sense of community. Referring to Agartala and the state’s historical and religious heritage, he said that the temples, festivals and traditions of Tripura reflect the diverse cultural character of India.

He said, Tripura itself represents the spirit of unity in diversity, with different communities having lived together in harmony for generations. He reminded the cadets that the NCC uniform represents much more than their participation in a youth organisation.

He called upon the cadets to become ambassadors of unity after returning to their respective schools, colleges and communities. The Governor encouraged the cadets to dream big and actively participate in India’s development journey. He referred to the country’s progress in areas such as digital innovation, space exploration, infrastructure development and social welfare.

The Governor particularly appreciated the 13 Tripura Battalion NCC for organising the Bir Bikram Ekta Camp and the Special National Integration Camp. He expressed confidence that the participating cadets would take the message of national integration, discipline, friendship and service back to their respective states and communities.

The event was attended by Brigadier Nishat Chandel, Commander, 21 Sector Assam, and N. S. Bhaath, Commanding Officer of 13 Tripura Battalion NCC, along with Indian Army officers, officers from the Assam Rifles, NCC officials, instructors and cadets.
