Agartala, Aug 30: Tripura Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday said that the Panchayat's role is crucial in elevating the living standard of the rural people.

He said, for rural development the three-tier Panchayati Raj system is a cornerstone in strengthening the rural economy.

The Minister also underscored the pivotal role of Panchayat representatives in advancing the local infrastructure.

He was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members of the Jirania Panchayat Samiti, held at the Jirania Block Office on Friday.

Chowdhury congratulated the newly sworn-in members, including the Chairperson Pritam Debnath and Vice-Chairperson Rupali Das.

He noted that the swearing-in marked the beginning of a renewed governance framework in the Jirania block. The minister expressed hope that the new Panchayat Samiti would work diligently to meet the aspirations of the local population.

Deputy Collector Nabakumar Jamatia administered the oath in the presence of other notable figures.
