Tripura minister passes away, three-day state mourning declared

Agartala, Jan 01: Tripura Revenue minister, veteran Tribal leader and president of IPFT- Narendra Chandra Debbarma passed away at GBP Hospital in Agartala on Sunday.
The 80-year-old veteran tribal leader suffered a severe brain stroke on December 30 last and was admitted to the government-run GBP Hospital.
He also underwent a surgery but the doctors could not save his life despite all-out efforts; he breathed his last at 2.47 pm in the hospital. He is survived by four sons, three daughters and wife.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, other ministers and leaders condoled the demise of N.C. Debbarma.
"Shri NC Debbarma Ji will be remembered by the coming generations as a hardworking grassroots leader who always worked for the well-being of people. He made a rich contribution to Tripura’s progress. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti," the Prime Minister tweeted.
The Tripura government has announced three-day state mourning till 3rd January, 2023.
Besides, all government offices including educational institutions will remain closed on Monday, a notification said.
