Tripura mountaineer Aritra Roy carries TRLM logo to Mount Aconcagua

Agartala, Sept 14: The aspirations of thousands of women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) in Tripura have found a place at one of the highest points on Earth, with mountaineer Aritra Roy carrying the logo of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) to the summit of Mount Aconcagua in Argentina.

Roy carried and proudly displayed the TRLM logo at the summit during his expedition in January, transforming his mountaineering feat into a symbolic tribute to the determination and aspirations of Tripura’s rural women, popularly known as ‘SHG Didis’.

TRLM highlighted the achievement through its official social media handle, expressing gratitude to Roy for taking the mission’s identity — and the aspirations associated with it — to the summit of Aconcagua.

“As the logo soared high on one of the world’s highest peaks, it carried with it the dreams, aspirations and determination of our SHG Didis of Tripura—a powerful message that there are no limits to what we can aspire to and achieve,” TRLM said.

The expedition assumes added significance in Tripura’s mountaineering history as Aritra Roy is also the first person from the state to have successfully scaled Mount Everest. His achievements have since become a source of inspiration for aspiring mountaineers as well as young people across the state.

For TRLM, however, the summit photograph represents something beyond a mountaineering accomplishment. The logo at the top of Aconcagua symbolises the dreams, confidence and determination of thousands of women who are working through SHGs to strengthen their livelihoods and build a better future for their families.

The message is also closely aligned with TRLM’s larger focus on rural women’s empowerment, encouraging SHG members to expand their aspirations, build economic independence and pursue opportunities beyond traditional boundaries.

The image of the TRLM logo reaching Aconcagua carries a larger message from Tripura — that the aspirations of its rural women, like the mountains they seek to conquer, need not have any limits.
