Tripura photographer among top-10 finalists of Queer Nature Photography Awards 2024

Agartala, Oct 04: Srimanta Roy, a renowned photographer and Assistant Professor of Bengali at Gandacherra Government Degree College in Tripura’s Dhalai district, entered the top-10 stage in the prestigious Queer Nature Photography Awards 2024.
Roy's photo, which was taken in West Bengal, has earned international recognition. The event organizers notified him via email, seeking more insights into his work and his perspective on the enigmatic beauty of nature.
The top three winners of the competition will be announced on October 17 at a grand exhibition in Amsterdam. The top-10 finalists, including Srimanta Roy from Tripura, have been invited to the event with all travel expenses covered by the organizers.
While expressing his joy, Roy said, "Whenever I see India next to my name at any exhibition, my heart swells with pride. To me, this is the greatest honor.”
He also expressed hope that the younger generation will move away from harmful distractions and embrace creative pursuits, aiming to make a mark on the global stage.
He extended thanks to wife Nishita Bhowmik, and the boatman, Ratan Pramanik, who were with him when he captured the award-winning photo. (with inputs from Tripura Times)
