In a move aimed at revolutionizing tourism in Tripura, the Tourism and Transport departments of the state are jointly working towards launching Seaplane Tourism Services, which will allow tourists—both domestic and international—to explore key water-based destinations like Narkel Kunja and Chabimura in significantly less time.
Making the announcement, Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the use of special water-landing aircraft (seaplanes) would provide quick and hassle-free access to the state’s vast aquatic tourist locations.
He highlighted that this initiative would not only offer a new and exciting travel experience for tourists but would also contribute to the development of the local economy.
“Seaplane tourism is a modern and attractive mode of travel that has the potential to open up new opportunities in tourism around the large water bodies of the state,” the Minister said in a social media update.
As part of this initiative, the Tourism Ministe chaired a meeting via video conferencing at the Secretariat Conference Hall on Friday. The meeting involved discussions with a private aviation company that could potentially operate the seaplane services in Tripura.
The proposed seaplane service is expected to place Tripura on the map as a unique adventure and water tourism destination in the Northeast.
