Tripura Police arrests two more in shooting incident, recovers pistol

Agartala, Nov 18: Two persons were arrested by Tripura Police on Friday in connection with a recent shooting incident that left two persons injured.
Two persons- Haripada Das and Sanjay Das had sustained bullet injuries after they were shot at near a Dhaba at Nutan Nagar following a gang war on October 25 last. Earlier, two other persons were arrested for their involvement in the incident.
Police said, the other suspects were absconding since the incident. According to secret inputs available with police, two of the absconders were seen in the area on Thursday night.
Based on secret information, police acted swiftly and nabbed Souradeep Kar and Prantosh Das from Chinaihani area under Airport police station, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar- Ajay Kumar Das.
A sophisticated pistol, a magazine and a live round were also recovered from the possession of the duo, he said.
“Both the arrestees have confessed their involvement in the crime. We found more names in connection with the incident. The incident was fallout of a dispute over internal negotiation. They all were member of the same gang earlier,” the SDPO told reporters. The police officer also hinted that more arrests were on the card.
He said, the live round recovered from the duo would be sent to the Forensic Laboratory; prima facie it appeared that similar bullets were used in the shooting incident.
