Agartala, Sept 30: Tripura Police has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of Durga Puja, a senior police officer said.

As per record, this year around 2506 numbers of Durga Puja are taking place all over the state-- 979 in urban areas and around 1527 in rural areas In AMC area, around 436 Durga Puja are being organised, the police officer said.

Apart from random checking at Naka points, police, TSR personnel and SPOs in adequate numbers will be deployed during the Durga Puja celebration.

All the police stations especially those situated in the interior areas and near the border have been put on high alert in view of the ensuing festival season.

According to police sources, BSF has been asked to maintain strict vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh international border to prevent any attempt of extremists to take entry in Tripura.
