Tripura Police seizes 2055 kg ganja, two arrested

Agartala, Nov 11: Tripura Police registered another major success as part of Neshamukt Tripura campaign on Thursday night.
In a special operation, the policemen led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jirania- Himadri Prasad Das raided a lorry of Rajasthan (RJ18-G-4272) at Ranirbazar in West Tripura district.
The policemen found that the lorry was carrying a huge consignment of ganja—2055 kg. It was one of the major ganja hauls by the Tripura Police so far.
The vehicle along with the ganja consignment was seized while two persons- Ashvini (driver) and Bhanu Pratap (co-driver), both residents of Kanoouj in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested in this connection.
A police officer said, a specific case under NDPS Act- 1985 was registered at Ranirbazar and probe was initiated.
In a social media post, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hailed the achievement of Tripura Police.
After the formation of the BJP-IPFT government in 2018, the fight against drugs was intensified. A good number of people involved in the illegal trades of drugs and ganja were arrested while huge amount of contraband items were seized.
