Tripura Police seizes Yaba tablets worth Rs. 1.35 crore, one held

In a successful drive against drugs trafficking, Tripura Police seized 95,000 Yaba tablets from an auto-rickshaw on Amtali Bypass on Thursday night.

Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police, West Tripura Namit Pathak confirmed the recovery Yaba tablets worth Rs 1.35 crore and arrest of the auto-rickshaw driver Subir Sutradhar, who attempted to disobey the police signal and escape the scene.

It was one of the biggest drug haul under Amtali police limit in recent times. 

The success was reportedly a reflection of strict stance of newly-assigned SDPO Amtali Parmita Pandey and OC Paritosh Das towards Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha's vision for Neshamukt Tripura.

While interacting with the media, the SP West lauded the efforts of Amtali police in the fight against drugs.

Later, the Chief Minister, in a social media, post also appreciated the successful anti-drug raid by Amtali police. 

Meanwhile, the drug traffickers and anti-social elements are reportedly using the Khayerpur- Amtali Bypass for illegal activities taking advantage of non-availability of CCTV surveillance and adequate street lights.

Sources said, the local community has also declared a war against drugs, helping the police in the mission.
