Tripura Professor Suman Adhikari featured in Stanford–Elsevier’s world’s top 2% scientists' list

Agartala, Oct 9: In a proud moment for Tripura’s higher education sector, Dr. Suman Adhikari, Associate Professor and officiating Principal of Kanchanpur Government Degree College in North Tripura, has earned a place in the prestigious 2026 list of the ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’, published by Stanford University and Elsevier.

Dr. Adhikari previously served in the Department of Chemistry at Dharmanagar Government Degree College in North Tripura. His significant contributions to chemical research, particularly in supramolecular chemistry and inorganic chemistry, have played an important role in earning this recognition.

According to the available ranking data, Dr. Adhikari holds a global rank of 6,83,099 in the relevant research subfield. His H-index stands at 11, while his Hm-index is 3. 

The ranking evaluates researchers’ scientific contributions and research impact using various citation-based indicators derived from the Scopus database.

His primary research interests include supramolecular chemistry, coordination chemistry, and the development and investigation of metal-based compounds with potential applications in cancer treatment.

Dr. Adhikari has made substantial contributions to scientific literature, with more than 80 research papers, three edited books, 10 book chapters and two Indian patents to his credit.

According to the information available, Dr. Adhikari is the first researcher working at a government degree college in Tripura to receive this recognition. 

His achievement is particularly significant given the infrastructural limitations and other challenges faced by researchers at government colleges in the state.

The recognition highlights the growing potential for research and innovation within Tripura’s higher education institutions.
