Tripura ready to welcome G20 delegates

Agartala, March 31: The northeastern state Tripura is ready to offer a rousing welcome to the G20 delegates.

While the preparations at the venue for main event- Indoor Exhibition Hall of Hapania international fair ground, Agartala are going on in full swing, the city has picked up a new look with colour illuminations, wall painting and welcome banners.

The two-day G20 Science Event will be held in Agartala on April 3 and 4 with the theme ‘Clean energy for a greener future’.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who chaired a high-level review meet on the preparations of the summit, in a social media post said, Tripura is excited to welcome the delegates from around the world.

The G20 delegates will visit Albert Ekka Memorial Park at Lichubagan and musical fountain at Kumari Tilla after arriving in the state on April 2 next.

On the next day, the first session of the summit ‘Science-20’ would be held at the Hapania indoor exhibition hall at 9 am.

In the second session, inauguration of the exhibition stalls, press conference and investors’ meet are scheduled to be held. A cultural programme followed by light and sound show would be organized at Ujjayanta Palace at the evening.

A Yoga session would be held at Oxygen Park on April 4 (6 am onwards) with the participation of the G20 delegates. Besides, a plantation drive would also be held. They are also scheduled to visit Purbasha, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary and Neermahal on the same day.

This is for the first time that Tripura is hosting such G20 event. In view of the summit, the security has been tightened. The Tripura government is leaving no stone unturned to make the mega event successful.
