Agartala, June 09: Tripura has recorded 14 Covid deaths in the past 24 hours with a report of 625 new cases.

An official report said that out of 16,804 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 625 samples had tested positive—the positivity rate stood 3.72 percent.

With the new deaths, the total Covid death tally in the state had reached 588. Meanwhile, 363 patients had recovered during this period taking the recovery rate to 89.44 percent.

Most importantly, Covid vaccines for the 18-44 age group were now available in the state. As per the latest update, as many as 38,060 doses for this age group (state channel) and another 4,01,280 jabs for 45+ age group (GOI channel) were in stock as on Wednesday.

The report said, total 16,46,107 doses were already administered—11,37,584 people received the first shot and 5,08,523 people received the second jab.

Meanwhile, in view of the present Covid situation, the Corona Curfew is likely to be extended in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas.

Though there was no official confirmation till the last information came in, a highly placed source in the administration said that a plan was in the pipeline to extend the Corona Curfew in AMC areas for a few more days.

A formal announcement in this regard is expected to come at a press conference on Thursday, the source said.
