Tripura Seeks Centre’s Backing for Major Sports and Youth Infrastructure Projects

Agartala, Sept 5: In a bid to give a strong push to youth and sports development in Tripura, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy met Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi on Friday and submitted a series of ambitious proposals.

Roy placed a detailed memorandum highlighting the need for modern infrastructure to nurture talent and create opportunities for the state’s youth. Among the key proposals were the expansion of Panisagar Regional Physical Education College under a master plan, construction of a 25,000-seat gallery and a 400-bed youth hostel at the Dasharath Dev State Sports Complex in Badharghat, and setting up of a G+5 youth hostel with a 500-seat auditorium at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuva Awaas Complex in Agartala.

The Minister said these projects would not only enhance sports facilities but also generate a strong ecosystem for youth empowerment, community engagement, and cultural development.

Union Minister Scindia, after hearing the proposals, assured full cooperation and expressed optimism that the initiatives would play a transformative role in Tripura’s journey of progress.
