Tripura sees rise in tourist footfall, Finance Minister tells House

Agartala, Mar 16: Tripura has registered a significant rise in the tourist footfall following the positive initiatives taken by the State Government, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy informed the Assembly on Monday.
In the Budget Speech, he said, different tourism infrastructure development works have been taken up under Externally Aided Project (EAP), funding from Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The tourists foot falls in the state have gone up to 6,50,772 in 2025-26 (up to February, 2026) from 5,29,815 in 2018-19, he said.
During 2026-27, one House Boat will be introduced at Dumboor Lake. Water front development of Amar Sagar Lake, Udaipur at Rs. 40.00 Cr and development of Twin Islands at Dumboor at Rs. 30.00 Cr will be taken up under financial support from Ministry of DONER, he said.
During 2026-27, development of Brahammakunda as destination will be taken up with an allocation of Rs. 13.00 Cr tourist.
In the FY 2025-26, the tourism sector of Tripura recorded significant progress with focused efforts on improving infrastructure, promoting eco-tourism and attracting more visitors to the State.
Replica of 51 Shakti Preethas is being established at Banduar, Udaipur at a cost of Rs. 97.70 Cr.
Winter festival in the name of 'Unity Promo Fest -2025' has been celebrated during the month of December, 2025. 125 delegates tour operators from 22 states and 4 foreign countries participated in the said event.
