Agartala, Sept 22: A women’s Self-Help Group from Tripura has brought laurels to the state by bagging the top honour at the prestigious SARAS Aajeevika Mela in New Delhi.

Najrul SHG from Mohanbhog Block outshone competitors from across 28 states and 8 Union Territories during the 18-day fair, earning the coveted Best Handicraft Product award. 

Their beautifully crafted products, blending tradition with creativity, impressed both visitors and evaluators.

The award was handed over by Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Rural Development, during the closing ceremony. Representing her group, SHG member Latifa Akter proudly accepted the recognition on September 22.

Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), which had facilitated the participation of SHGs from the state, congratulated the winners through its official channels. 

A senior TRLM official remarked that such national-level recognition will inspire many more SHG Didis of Tripura to showcase their talent and explore larger markets.

With this achievement, Tripura’s women artisans have once again demonstrated how grassroots entrepreneurship can make a mark on the national stage.
