Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen was rushed to a hospital on Friday evening after he fell unconscious in a train at Agartala railway station.
According to eyewitnesses, Sen had boarded the Dharmanagar-bound train and was in the B1 coach.
He went to the toilet and suddenly lost consciousness, around 6–6:15 pm. His security guards and railway staff quickly came to his aid and shifted him to Tripura Medical College (TMC), Hapania.
Initial medical examination suggested a possible cerebral attack. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, upon receiving the news, immediately reached the hospital.
In a social media post, he later revealed that doctors detected an internal brain haemorrhage and recommended urgent surgery.
By late evening, Sen was transferred to a private hospital in Agartala, where the doctors performed emergency surgery.
Sources confirmed the procedure remained successful, and the Speaker has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close monitoring over the next 72 hours.
Leaders from both the ruling party and opposition visited the hospital to enquire about his health and extend support to his family.
