Tripura Sports minister calls to intensify fight against drugs

Agartala, Nov 09: Police administration alone can’t achieve the goal of drugs-free Tripura. Every citizen needs to take responsibility in the fight against drugs, Tripura Sports minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting on the Neshamukt Tripura campaign at the civil secretariat, he emphasized on strengthening the awareness campaign against drugs.

The Sports minister asked the officials concerned to go for widespread awareness drives in schools, colleges, and other public places including markets. He also advised the police officials to include drugs-free Tripura campaign in their Prayas programmes.

The elected public representatives up to Panchayat level and all line departments need to work together to strengthen this fight towards achieving the goal, he said.
 
Deputy Mayor of AMC Manika Das Dutta, Sabhadhipatis of all eight Zilla Parishads, secretary of ICA department- P.K. Chakraborty, and many other dignitaries took part in the meeting and shared their views.

According to a government press release, several important decisions were taken in the meeting that was attended by the officials of the Education, Health, Police and ICA departments.
