Agartala, Aug 12: Tripura government has taken various programmes to celebrate the Independence Day on August 15.
The celebration will commence on August 13 with the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, in which the National Flag will be hoisted at every home across the state.
The main event on August 15 will take place at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will raise the National Flag at 9:10 am.
The Chief Minister will then inspect a parade by the armed forces. He will also distribute awards to the cadets of the training corps, officers, and Forest department personnel.
He will address the citizens of the state. The day’s events will conclude with a PT and cultural performance.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the "Har Ghar Tiranga" initiative will continue on August 14 with the national flag being hoisted at every home in Agartala. At 6 AM, a 3-kilometer open cross-country race for women and a 5-kilometer race for men will be held at the Umakanta Academy ground. Cleanliness drives will also take place in and around Agartala city.
On August 15, the Independence Day celebrations will start at 5 AM with morning processions by students from various schools. These processions will traverse different roads in Agartala. During the "Har Ghar Tiranga" initiative, the National Flag will be hoisted at both government and private establishments.
At 7 am, Minister Ratanlal Nath will raise the national flag at the Secretariat premises.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu will offer floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near the Circuit House at 8 am. Subsequently, at 8:15 am, the Governor will lay wreaths at Gandhighat. At 8:35 am, he will pay his respects at the martyr’s tomb in Albert Ekka Memorial Park, Lichubagan.
At home ceremony will be held at the New Raj Bhavan at 5 pm. In the evening, a cultural programme will be held at Agartala Town Hall, commencing from 6.30 pm.
