Tripura to develop cricket academy for proper training of players: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the need to develop a cricket training academy in the state for proper training of the players.
He said, the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) already held discussions through various channels. If the plans don’t work, the state government can also provide land to establish a state cricket academy.
Speaking at an event in Agartala, the Chief Minister also said that he had recently approved a proposal for providing the Education department’s land to the TCA for developing a new cricket ground at Sabroom in South Tripura district.
He was addressing felicitation ceremony of new life members and the annual reunion of all life members of the Tripura Cricket Association.
Dr. Saha said that there were some issues regarding shortage of space meant for parking near the stadium of international standard being developed at Narsingarh. There was a need to acquire land. The Chief Minister said, he held discussions with the officials and the work has almost been completed.
He lauded the Tripura Cricket Association for its role in promoting cricket across the state. He emphasized that everyone must work with transparency. Dr. Saha also spoke on the necessity of sports in addressing the issue of drug abuse among youths.
The Chief Minister said he is keeping an eye on the association’s activities indirectly. “Wherever there is money-related work, some people will try to intervene. This is a movement where corruption will not be tolerated.”
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, chairperson of Tripura Human Rights Commission and president of TCA Tapan Lodh among other dignitaries were present.
