Tripura to host NEC Meet from Dec 20, HM Amit Shah to attend

Agartala, Dec 05: Tripura will host three-day plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), commencing from December 20.

According to sources, Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah, Union Minister for DoNER Jyotiraditya Scindia, other union ministers and top officials are scheduled to attend the NEC Meet from December 20 to 22.

Governors and Chief Ministers of all eight Northeastern States are also likely to join the three-day plenary session, sources said.

The plenary session will focus on key issues of the Northeast including drugs trafficking, India-Bangladesh border related matters and development projects.

Earlier the NEC plenary session was scheduled on August 31 and September 1, this year, but it was postponed due to the devastating floods in Tripura.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway in full swing in view of the upcoming event.
