Agartala, June 24: In a decisive move to strengthen emergency medical services for accident victims, the Tripura government is set to roll out 16 new Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances soon.
The ambulances—equipped with modern facilities —will soon be launched formally by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
The new fleet aims to dramatically reduce the time it takes to get accident victims to hospitals.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who chaired a preparatory meeting with key officials at the Secretariat on Tuesday, said the move is aimed at emergency response to accident victims and shifting them to hospitals.
The meeting saw presence of senior officials from the Transport, Health, Fire & Emergency Services departments, along with SP West Kiran Kumar K, SP Traffic Kanta Jangir and others officials.
As preparations for the official launch gain momentum, Chowdhury is also turning his attention to another key sector: tourism.
On the same day, a separate high-level review was conducted by Chowdhury, who also holds tourism portfolio, to assess the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects under the Tourism department.
Chaired by Chowdhury, the session brought together Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, and a team of senior engineers and project heads.
The focus of the discussion was clear—speed up, streamline, and deliver. Strategies were discussed to fast-track construction timelines, resolve bottlenecks, and enhance the tourism experience across the state.
