Agartala, Jan 23:Tripura is set to take center stage during the 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, with two major contributions highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
A troupe of 101 artists from the Sangrain Welfare Society will perform the Sangrain Dance, a traditional Mog community dance, during the Republic Day programme. Led by Raju Mog, the group left for Delhi on December 29 and has already wowed audiences during the full-dress rehearsal on Thursday.
This marks the third time the Sangrain Dance will be featured in the national celebrations, showcasing Tripura's vibrant cultural identity.
The Sangrain Umbrella Dance performance is one of the standout acts among 5,000 folk dancers from across India for a separate event.

Additionally, Tripura’s tableau will depict ‘Eternal Reverence: The Worship of 14 Deities in Tripura - Kharchi Puja’, highlighting the state’s iconic cultural festival. This makes Tripura the sole Northeastern state to have its tableau featured in the Republic Day Parade this year.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha shared the update, emphasizing that the tableau will reflect the state's deep cultural roots and traditions.
Under the broader theme ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas’, 16 states/UTs and 10 Ministries/Departments will present their tableaux, showcasing India’s diverse heritage and progress.
The Sangrain Dance, known for its vibrant attire, synchronized movements, and cultural symbolism, will serve as a window into Tripura’s Mog community.
Similarly, the Kharchi Puja tableau will offer the audience a glimpse of the century-old worship of the 14 deities, a cornerstone of Tripura’s cultural and spiritual identity.
Both these contributions will not only celebrate the unique heritage of Tripura but also bring national attention to the state’s traditions and artistry.
These displays promise to be among the most captivating moments of the Republic Day Parade, reflecting India’s rich tapestry of culture and unity in diversity.
