Tripura to soon have air connectivity with Chittagong: ICA Minister

Agartala, Aug 23: The much-awaited international flight service between Tripura and Bangladesh would commence very soon, said state Information and Cultural Affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Addressing a press conference, he said, the council of ministers on Tuesday approved Viable Gap Funding of Rs. 15 crore to bear the initial loss, if any, to operate flight in Agartala- Chittagong route.
“The passenger flights between Agartala and Chittagong in Bangladesh will be operated thrice in a week; the fare is Rs. 4500 per passenger.
According to official sources, the flights would be operated under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik)-RCS (Regional Connectivity) scheme.
Chowdhury said the exact date for commencement of the international flight service would be decided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in consultation with the Ministry of External Affairs and Bangladesh government.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the all-new terminal of Maharaja Bir Bikram airport, Agartala on January 4 this year.
