Tripura Tourism minister calls for collective efforts for promotion, development of Chabimura

Agartala, May 22: The Tripura government has intensified efforts to transform Chabimura into a major tourism destination, with Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury reviewing the status of ongoing development and beautification projects on Friday.
A high-level meeting was convened at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala to assess the progress of work and outline future plans aimed at improving tourism infrastructure and management at the picturesque site.
Speaking during the review meeting, the minister described Chabimura as one of the state’s most treasured tourist attractions, celebrated for its striking natural landscape and unique heritage value.
He emphasized that the government is determined to promote the destination more aggressively and elevate its profile beyond regional boundaries.
The meeting brought together elected representatives, officials from the Tourism Department, TTAADC members, local administration and representatives of committees associated with Chabimura and nearby areas.
Discussions centered on strengthening coordination among various stakeholders to ensure better upkeep and effective management of the tourist spot.
Officials also deliberated on measures to improve visitor amenities and create a more organized and welcoming environment for tourists.
Chowdhury stressed that tourism development should not only focus on infrastructure but also create meaningful livelihood opportunities for people living in and around the area.
He noted that expanding tourism activities could open new avenues of employment and income generation for local communities.
The deliberations also covered plans to preserve Chabimura’s heritage character while advancing sustainable development.
Strategies for wider promotion of the destination at national and international platforms, along with a long-term roadmap for tourism growth, were also discussed during the meeting.
