Tripura Tourism minister pushes plan for new eco-tourism project

Ludhua Tea Estate, nestled amidst the lush hills and forests of South Tripura's Sabroom, will soon emerge as a major tourist destination in the state.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Sunday visited the century-old tea garden, the proposed site, pushing the plan for developing the new tourism project.

Speaking to the media, he said, a DPR for developing the project at estimated cost of Rs. 32 crore is being prepared. The tender would be floated within the next one and half months and the works for the project would commence in three months.

“The natural beauty and unspoiled charm of Ludhua Tea Estate could give Darjeeling-like experience, if developed properly,” he remarked.

The modern Eco-Tourism destination will include various tourist facilities including a scenic lake with boating facilities, a unique roof bridge, a children’s play zone, nature trails for walking and local handicrafts and traditional cuisine for visitors.

“Our goal is to identify every promising location in Tripura and place it firmly on India’s tourism map. Ludhua Tea Garden is a shining example,” said Chowdhury.

The Tourism minister was accompanied by Director Prashant Badal Negi, SDM Sabroom Shivjyoti Dutta, Assistant BDO of Rupaicherri Block Titu Debbarma, and other senior officials. Former Sabroom MLA Sankar Roy alao joimed the visit.
