In a determined move to strengthen rural connectivity and public services, Tripura Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury undertook a field inspection of several ongoing infrastructure projects in Jirania, West Tripura on Wednesday.
The visit reflected the state government’s focused drive under its “double-engine” governance model, inspired by the HIRA vision — Highways, I-ways, Railways, and Airways.
Among the major initiatives is the construction of a modern motor stand in Jirania, a long-pending demand of the local workforce and commuters. With an estimated budget of Rs. 13 crore, the project is being developed by the Transport Department and is expected to significantly improve regional transit and traffic management once completed.
During the visit, Chowdhury, accompanied by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other senior officials, reviewed the pace and quality of the ongoing works. He emphasized that the current government is focused on replacing the outdated infrastructure left behind by previous regimes with modern, people-centric facilities.
The era of crumbling and obsolete structures is over. We are building infrastructure that meets the needs of today’s citizens, the Minister remarked.
In addition to transport facilities, the minister also inspected a nearly completed two-storey office for the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Superintendent. The facility, designed to streamline agricultural services in the region, is slated for inauguration soon.
Healthcare is also receiving a major boost in Jirania, with the construction of a new sub-divisional hospital currently underway. Chowdhury, along with local health officials, visited the site to assess progress and instructed the executing agency to ensure timely completion without compromising quality.
These development efforts are part of the broader mission to ensure inclusive growth and modern infrastructure across Tripura. From transportation to healthcare and agriculture, the projects in Jirania reflect a clear commitment to transforming public service delivery at the grassroots level.
