Tripura's all 1176 GPs, VCs now digital payment compliant

Agartala, Oct 03: All 1176 Gram Panchayats and Village Councils in Tripura have been declared digital transaction compliant.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made this announcement during an event held at Gram Swaraj Bhavan (PRTI), A.D. Nagar on Tuesday followed by distribution of prizes among the best performing Panchayeti Raj Institutes (PRIs) in various categories (National Panchayat Award and PMAY-G).
The Chief Minister also inaugurated various new facilities- Panchayat Darshan (3D model village), Three Figure Statue and Gram Sabha Model, Walk Library, She Zone, Workstation and Child Care Room for modern training process at the PRTI.
A good number of representatives of three-tier panchayats and officials concerned were present in the programme organized by the Rural Development and Panchayat departments.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said, the representatives of the three-tier panchayats have to listen to the people carefully and work sincerely to address their issues. He said, the representatives need to work in a way so that their works become memorable to the people.
He said, the development of the country or state is not possible without development of the villages because a major portion of the country is rural.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha said, introduction of digital payment system in the Gram Panchayats and Village Councils has set an example before the country.
He said, the global leaders praised India’s public digital infrastructure during the G20 summit.
Special secretary to RD department Sandeep R. Rathod said, construction of around 2.59 lakh houses has completed the Prime Minister Awaas Yojana- Rural. Based on this achievement, the central government sanctioned more 1,30,000 houses for Tripura.
Sabhadhipatis, Saha Sabhadhipatis, chairmen of Panchayat Samities, vice-chairmen, District Magistrates and other representatives of three-tier Panchayats were also present in the programme.
