Tripura's first case under new Criminal Law registered at Damcherra PS

Agartala, July 01: Damcherra police station in North Tripura district has registered the first case of Tripura under the new Criminal Law, a police official said.

The case no- 15/2024 of Damcherra police station is a case of theft, North Tripura district Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty said at a press conference.

He said, the case will continue as per the new law that came into force on Monday (July 1).

The press meet was held at the conference hall of DM office, Dharmanagar after a one-day workshop on the three new criminal laws- Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakhsya Adhiniyam.

District Magistrate of North Tripura Debapriya Bardhan, Sabhadhipati of North Tripura Zilla Parishad Bhavatosh Das, Addl. DM Biplab Das, SDM Dharmanagar Shyamjoy Jamatia and police officers and other representatives were present in the press conference. They also elaborated the three new laws in the press conference.
