Tripura's new Governor arrives, welcomed by Chief Minister

Agartala, July 13: Newly-appointed Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya, who arrived in Tripura on Monday, was welcomed by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb among others.

He became the 19th Governor of Tripura replacing Ramesh Bais, who has now been made the Governor of Jharkhand.

The new Governor would assume his office on Wednesday while the outgoing Governor- Ramesh Bais was bade farewell on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and others were present in the farewell ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

After biding adieu to the outgoing Governor, the Chief Minister on his official Facebook handle wrote that his advice was remarkable in accelerating the development process in Tripura. Deb’s post also mentioned that Bais’ contribution would always be remembered by the people of Tripura.

The new Governor, soon after his arrival in the state on Monday, had said that he would work for the progress and development of Tripura. He also made an appeal to all the people to become a part of this process.

The new Governor along with his family was welcomed by Chief secretary Kumar Alok, Director General of Police V.S. Yadav and West Tripura District Magistrate Devapriya Bardhan at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala. When the Governor reached Raj Bhavan, he was accorded the Guard of Honour.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Revenue minister N.C. Debbarma, Education minister Ratan Lal Nath, Social Welfare and Social Education minister Santana Chakma, Assembly Speaker Rebati Mohan Das, MP Rebati Tripura and chief whip of the assembly Kalyani Roy along with high officials were present to welcome the Governor.

Later Deb in a Facebook post said that he was happy to welcome Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya in Agartala. The guidance of the Governor, Deb wrote, would assist the development of the people of Tripura.
