Tripura's Ranjit Acharjee invited for national I-Day event

Ranjit Acharjee, a dedicated NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteer from Gandacherra Higher Secondary School in Tripura's Dhalai district, has been selected to participate in the 2025 Independence Day celebrations at the iconic Red Fort in New Delhi.

He is the lone participant from Tripura to be selected for this year's national event this year.

Ranjit, who hails from the Gandatwisa region, will be among 50 outstanding NSS volunteers from across the country invited as special guests to the national ceremony.

Each selected volunteer will be accompanied by a parent, and Ranjit’s mother will be joining him on this prestigious journey.

The selection is being seen as a significant achievement, not just for Ranjit, but also for the NSS movement in Tripura.

Last year, four NSS volunteers from the state were part of the Independence Day celebrations, and two had participated in the Republic Day ceremony earlier this year.

The Gandacherra Higher Secondary School’s NSS unit has been actively involved in a wide range of social service and awareness campaigns.

The unit’s work under the leadership of Program Officer Bhaskar Ghosh has drawn state wide recognition. Ghosh was awarded the Best NSS Program Officer at the state level by the Chief Minister in 2024.

To honour Ranjit’s achievement, a special felicitation ceremony was organized at the school on Tuesday.

The event was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chandrajoy Reang, Vice Principal Khajendra Tripura, Program Officer Bhaskar Ghosh, and several other teachers.

All present expressed immense pride in Ranjit’s selection and extended their heartfelt wishes for his upcoming visit to Delhi.

Ranjit’s participation in the Red Fort ceremony will not only bring honor to his school and hometown but also shade light on Tripura’s growing presence in national youth initiatives.
