Tripura's traditional Garia Puja: A symbol of unity, culture and devotion

Amid huge enthusiasm, Tripura is celebrating traditional Garia Puja which will come to an end on Monday. 

The festivity lasts for seven days. It begins on the last day of the Chaitra month and continues until the seventh day of Vaisakha.

During this auspicious occasion, people will worship Baba Garia, the deity of livestock and wealth, represented by a bamboo pole, with offerings symbolizing prosperity and fertility.

The festival showcases the cultural traditions of the Tripuri people, blending religious rituals and festivities seamlessly.

The Garia Puja is a celebration of unity and harmony, bringing together tribal and non-tribal communities. 

To facilitate widespread participation, there will be a government holiday on Monday. Every year, thousands of devotees participate in the rituals, offering prayers and sacrifices to seek blessings from Baba Garia.

The festival highlights the Tripura's rich cultural heritage and its people's deep-rooted traditions.
