The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Animal Resources Development department from Tripura have been honoured with the ‘Centre for Innovation in Public Service (CIPS)’ Awards.
The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) were recognized for their innovative contributions at an event held in Srinagar. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha presented the awards.
The TRLM was honoured for its Bank Sakhi initiative, a grassroots banking facilitation model where trained women assist from Self Help Group (SHG) didis in navigating formal banking systems.
The "Bank Sakhis" support services such as loan processing, insurance renewals, and financial literacy, serving as crucial liaisons at local bank branches.
The TRLM’s award was received by Chief Executive Officer Tarik Kanti Chakma.
The ARDD, meanwhile, was recognized for pioneering the use of sex-sorted semen in artificial insemination programs across select areas in the state.
This advanced breeding technique aims to improve cattle productivity by increasing the birth rate of female calves, contributing to higher milk yields and better economic returns for farmers.
Dr. Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, Director of ARDD, received the award on behalf of the department.
Tripura’s Minister for Animal Resources Development, Sudhangshu Das, took to social media to congratulate the teams, calling the award a recognition for the department.
