Tripura’s Kenneth Chakma cracks UPSC Exam with AIR 116

Agartala, May 21: In a moment of pride for Tripura, Kenneth Chakma has cracked Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination with All India Rank (AIR) 116.

He is a resident of Silachari in Gomati district and his father U.K. Chakma is an IAS officer, presently posted as Secretary to the Government of Tripura.

Chakma cleared the exam for the prestigious Indian Forest Service (IFoS) bringing immense pride to the people of Tripura.

Currently serving as a Senior Geologist with the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Kenneth’s academic credentials are equally distinguished.

An alumnus of IIT Bombay, he holds a Master’s degree in Applied Geology and has also qualified for the GATE and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). 

His early education began at Holy Cross School in Agartala, followed by Vikas Vidyalaya in Visakhapatnam.

He had enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, before deciding to focus fully on civil services preparation.

He will soon begin training as part of the 2025 batch of officers at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. After completing the foundation course, he will proceed to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun, for specialised training in forestry.
