Tripura’s Mog culture shines on national stage at Lok Rang Mahotsav 2026

Agartala, Nov 03: Showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Tripura’s Mog community on a national platform, artistes of the Sangrain Dance Academy, Tripura, enthralled audiences with their traditional Sangrain and Wa dance performances at Lok Rang Mahotsav 2026, held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The two-day cultural event, organised on November 2 and 3, witnessed the artistes presenting the distinctive folk traditions, dance forms, traditional costumes and cultural identity of the Mog community through their vibrant performances.

The cultural troupe was led by Raju Mog, recipient of the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar. Under his leadership, the artistes represented Tripura’s indigenous cultural heritage and brought the unique traditions of the Mog community to the attention of audiences from different parts of the country.

The performances were not merely artistic presentations but also reflected the community's sustained efforts to preserve, promote and popularise its traditional folk culture.

The artistes' dedication, cultural commitment and deep-rooted connection with their heritage were evident throughout the performances.

Participation in a prestigious national cultural event like Lok Rang Mahotsav has provided an important platform for the Sangrain Dance Academy to showcase Tripura's cultural diversity and strengthen the visibility of the state's traditional art forms beyond its geographical boundaries.

Through such initiatives, the academy continues to play a significant role in preserving the cultural identity of the Mog community while taking Tripura's rich folk traditions to a wider national audience.
