Tripura’s new Lokayukta vows to combat corruption

Agartala, Aug 16: Dr. Bibhas Kanti Kilikdar, a retired judge, was sworn in as the Lokayukta of Tripura on Friday.
The oath-taking ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan, Agartala, with Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu administering the oath of office. The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
After taking the oath, Dr. Kilikdar underscored the importance of a united effort to root out corruption from society.
"Corruption is a social disease," he remarked, emphasizing the need for collective action.
"The Chief Minister's vision of zero corruption is commendable, but this battle cannot be fought alone. It requires the cooperation of all," he said.
The newly-appointed Lokayukta's commitment to his role was echoed in the event.
High-ranking officials, including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan were present. Secretaries and directors from various departments also attended the event.
