Agartala, May 19: In a major initiative aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and promoting sustainable farming practices, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has entered into a strategic partnership with SeSTA- Seven Sisters Development Assistance to support nearly 20,000 women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state.

The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a non-financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will remain effective for the next three years. The initiative is expected to focus on enhancing agriculture-based livelihoods and improving income-generating opportunities for rural women.

Officials said the partnership is designed to encourage sustainable agricultural practices while empowering women from economically weaker sections to become more self-reliant. Through joint interventions, both organisations aim to strengthen grassroots-level livelihood activities and create long-term economic opportunities in rural Tripura.

According to TRLM, the initiative will play a crucial role in promoting inclusive rural development by equipping SHG members with better livelihood support systems, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and sustainable farming techniques.

The mission believes the collaboration will help accelerate economic empowerment among women in villages and contribute significantly to improving rural household incomes across the state.

Meanwhile, a high-level review meeting was held today at the Tripura Rural Livelivelihood Mission (TRLM) Conference Hall to discuss and finalize the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for "Modernising the Pig Industry in the State of Tripura."

The meeting was chaired by the Tarit Kanti Chakma, Chief Executive Officer, alongside esteemed representatives from Cooperl Arc Atlantique India, in the presence of Additional CEO and other TRLM officials.

The discussion focused on creating a robust framework for technology transfer, sustainable farming practices, and boosting the livelihoods of local livestock farmers across Tripura.

This collaboration is a significant milestone in bringing international expertise to Tripura's grassroots economy, empowering our rural clusters with modern industry standards.
