TRLM’s Gomati District, Kumarghat Block honoured for excellence in PMFME implementation

Agartala, Mar 12: The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) achieved a significant milestone as its Gomati district unit and the Kumarghat Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) were recognised for outstanding performance under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME).

The honour was conferred during a state-level programme organised in conjunction with the launch of the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030 at Prajna Bhavan on Thursday.

The Gomati district unit received the Best Performing TRLM District Award from the Industries and Commerce Department of the Government of Tripura for its exemplary implementation of the PMFME scheme through Self Help Groups (SHGs) during the 2025–26 financial year.

Officials said the district recorded the highest number of sanctioned Seed Capital cases, extending financial support to 692 SHG members engaged in micro food processing activities.

The initiative has significantly strengthened women-led enterprises and boosted livelihood opportunities in rural areas.

Meanwhile, the Kumarghat BMMU was honoured as the Best Performing TRLM Block for its effective execution of the PMFME programme at the grassroots level.

The PMFME scheme, implemented by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under the Government of India, aims to support micro food processing entrepreneurs through credit-linked subsidies, seed capital assistance, and capacity building.

According to TRLM officials, the recognition reflects the collective efforts of field teams and the growing entrepreneurial drive among women Self Help Group members in rural Tripura.

The programme was attended by Tripura’s Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Industries Secretary Kiran Gitte, along with senior government officials and representatives from various departments.

Commenting on the launch of the "Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy”, the Minister said, this event marked a significant step towards strengthening women-led enterprises and empowering aspiring entrepreneurs across Tripura.

The launch of the Women Entrepreneurship Policy reflects a progressive vision for creating greater opportunities, support systems, and an enabling ecosystem for women to transform their ideas into successful ventures, she noted.
