
Agartala, Mar 27: After scrutiny, 181 nominations for ensuing elections to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council were declared valid, an official said on Friday.
Speaking to the reporters, Secretary to the State Election Commission Anurag Sen said a total of 186 persons had filed nominations for the ADC polls and the number of nominations was 268.
Thursday was the day for scrutiny of nominations. After scrutiny, the Returning Officers of respective constituencies declared 181 nominations valid, he said, adding that 5 nominations were rejected due to certain reasons.
"The last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 28. After that, the actual number of contesting candidates will be confirmed," the Secretary informed the media.
He also shared that both BJP and Tipra Motha submitted nominations for all 28 seats each. Left front filed nominations in 25 seats and the number of Congress' nominations is 27. IPFT also fielded candidates in 24 seats.
Replying to a media query, he said there was no major complaints regarding violation of Model Code of Conduct so far.
"We act swiftly whenever any complaint arises," he noted.
Meanwhile, as per the final electoral roll, the total number of voters across the 28 constituencies under ADC stands at 9,62,697. Of these, 4,82,025 are male, 4,80,666 are female, and six voters belong to the third gender.
