Ujjayanta Palace Garden picks up new look with enhanced facilities

Agartala, Oct 08: Ujjayanta Palace garden in Agartala has been given a new look with enhanced facilities for attracting more visitors.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the renovation and restoration project of Ujjayanta Palace Garden on Monday.

With financial support from the Asian Development Bank and under the supervision of Agartala Smart City Limited, the restoration and renovation works have been completed in a short time. The project was completed at a total cost of Rs. 35.58 crore.

Under this project, various restoration works have been carried out, including upgrading the open spaces of Ujjayanta Palace, renewing the water fountains, improving the drainage system, enhancing the areas around Krishnasagar and Radhasagar, setting up food courts, selfie points, and creating walkways along the lake for tourists.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, the Chief Minister said that the present state government prioritizes the development of Tourism in the state.

He mentioned that Ujjayanta Palace holds a significance and heritage. Referring to the new facilities at the Ujjayanta palace garden, the Chef Minister said, this would not only enhance the beauty of Ujjayanta Palace but also attract more tourists. 

The government is focused on developing the state and showcasing its tourism potential to attract visitors from outside. An influx of tourists from other places is already being noticed in Tripura. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the number of tourists would further increase as a result of the implementation of this project.

The welcome speech at the event was delivered by Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation. 

Also present at the event were Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister for Tourism, Dipak Majumder, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, and Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, among others.
