Agartala, Sept 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working tirelessly for the welfare of the people through service and good governance. Because he understands the suffering of the countrymen, he has freed crores of people from poverty through various schemes.

Even 12 years ago, there was instability in the country. Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our country is now advancing rapidly toward development with stability. 

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this today after inaugurating a blood donation and clothes distribution camp organised by the Maharajganj Bazar Fish Traders' Association.

The Chief Minister said that, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is underway in our state as well as across the country, continuing until 17 October. Since taking charge as Prime Minister, he has lifted nearly 25 crore people across the country above the poverty line. Through various schemes, gas connections in every household, clean drinking water, toilets, health insurance schemes, and various projects for agriculture and farmers' development are being implemented. The state government is working with the Prime Minister's guidance and the trust of the people. 

The Chief Minister said that nearly 100 percent of people in the state are now covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Praising the organisation of the blood donation and clothes distribution camp, he said that blood donation is the noblest service, and this initiative must continue.

The Chief Minister said that a healthy environment has now been created in different markets of the state. The state government is implementing various projects for the development of markets. Political considerations are not given priority in development work in the state. The state government does not tolerate any kind of unethical activity. 

He said, a modern fish market is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 30.50 crore for the benefit of the fish traders of Maharajganj Bazar. The state government will also undertake various schemes for the welfare of traders in the future.

Speaking as a special guest at the event, Dipak Majumder, Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA, said that various infrastructure development works are underway for the benefit of traders in 10 markets of Agartala. He congratulated the fish traders for organising the blood donation and clothes distribution camp.

Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Public Works and Health Departments, spoke as guest of honour. 

Also present at the event were Ratna Datta, Chairperson of the Central Zone of the Agartala Municipal Corporation; Saju Vaheed A, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation; and Bhabatosh Das, Secretary of the Maharajganj Fish Market Traders' Association, among others. Sudhir Das, President of the Maharajganj Fish Traders' Association, delivered the welcome address. 

On behalf of the association, a cheque for Rs 50,000 was handed over to the Chief Minister for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. 

The Chief Minister formally handed over clothes to several women. He spoke with the blood donors and encouraged them. Harendra Das, Advisor to the Fish Traders' Association, delivered the vote of thanks.
