Under-trial ATM hacker's escape in Tripura: Inquiry Commission formed

Agartala, July 23: The council of ministers in Tripura on Thursday formed a two-member inquiry Commission to investigate the sensational escape of international fraudster and ATM hacker Hakan Zanburkhan, an under-trial prisoner.

The commission was formed with two members- Justice S.C. Das (chairman), retired judge of the High court of Tripura, and Dr. B.K. Kilikdar (member), retired judicial employee, Tripura Law minister Ratanlal Nath told the media.

According to the notification, the commission would inquire the facts of alleged escape of the under-trial prisoner and find out the persons responsible for such escape and also ascertain any sort of negligence in the part of deputed staff/ escort.

Nath said the Commission was asked to complete the inquiry and submit its report along with recommendations, if any, to the state government within three months from the date they would take charge of the office.

Hakan had managed to escape from the toilet of GBP hospital when he was taken from the central jail for a routine check-up on July 9 last.

However, the police investigation has already revealed multiple dark sides including use of mobile phone inside the jail in the sensational escape. In the course of investigation, Tripura Police arrested total 11 persons including six jai inmates in connection with this case while arrests some other people involved in the incident were on the card.
