Unemployment rate in Tripura comes down to 1.4 percent: Tinku Roy

Agartala, Mar 05: Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday stated in the Tripura Legislative Assembly that the unemployment rate in Tripura had significantly come down to 1.4 percent presently from 11 percent in Left era.

Roy said, there were 7,41,305 registered unemployed people in Tripura in 2018-19; the figure had come down to 3,00,029 as on January 31 this year.

He was replying to the queries raised by Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy and CPI-M legislator Dipankar Sen in the House on the last day of the budget session.

The minister also rejected the proposal of the Congress MLA for unemployment allowance for the registered unemployed youths.

“The unemployment rate was revealed by a survey conducted by the Union Labour Ministry,” he said in reply to a query raised by the Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma.

He also said, the recruitment drives are being conducted apart from the government's initiatives on self-employment and entrepreneurship development.

The minister also shared the figure of the government jobs given in recent times including JRBT recruitment and TSR jobs.
